Şafak Özsoy (Türkiye)

Şafak Özsoy is a distinguished sustainability professional with over 38 years of experience. She founded the TULIP Sustainability Centre in 2002, providing consultancy on environmental management, climate change, adaptation and resilience, and corporate sustainability. Most recently, she has also produced and hosted the Net Zero Radio programme.

Özsoy has held numerous management positions, including Quality and Environment Manager for the French group Cement Français and Akenerji. She has also served as the UNDRR representative in Turkey. She has lectured on sustainable development at Ozyegin University.

An accomplished writer and advocate of women's empowerment, Özsoy has served as the President of the Soroptimist Club of Istanbul, the Secretary General of the Turkish Association of University Women and the Secretary General of the Soroptimist Federation of Turkiye. From 1995 to 2001, she was also elected as a member of the International Federation of University Women's Membership Committee. She is a graduate of the Harvard Energy within the Environmental Constrait Certification Programme. She holds a degree in geological engineering from Istanbul Technical University. A Rotarian for 20 years, Ozsoy is the chair for Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia, and Pakistan.

Ozsoy's commitment to environmental issues is demonstrated by her role in major climate conferences and sustainability training programmes. Her remarkable career has left a legacy of sustainability and empowerment. Ozsoy has been following the UN climate talks since 2009 and actively participated in COP 25, COP 26 and COP 28 in DUBAI with the Turkish Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change.

She was also one of the founders of KA-DER, which supported women in parliament in 1997. She was an official delegate to the UN Habitat II Conference in 1996 and the Beijing +5 Follow-up Conference in 2000.

She is also the author of the chapter on sustainable management and implementation in the Economic and Management Dimensions of Sustainability, published in 2023.
