Dedicated to reducing the use of plastics, advocating for sustainable alternatives, and promoting responsible waste management, the collaboration of ESRAG’s Plastic Solutions Taskforce and EndPlasticSoup unites Rotarians and partners worldwide in addressing this pervasive problem.
The collaboration operates as an inspiring example of collective impact. Shared resources, project recipes and success stories empower individuals, Rotary clubs, and districts to take effective action. With the guiding principle of “reduce, rethink, reuse and recycle,” the emphasis is upstream solutions to prevent plastic waste before it becomes pollution.
Global Plastics Solutions Cafe
Central to these outreach efforts is the Global Plastics Solutions Cafe, held on Zoom every 3rd Thursday of the month at 2:00 PM UTC. This monthly event gathers people from around the world to connect, learn, and share collective wisdom about tackling plastic pollution.
The format is semi-formal, offering a welcoming space with a structured yet flexible agenda. Occasionally, the Cafe hosts expert speakers who shed light on innovative solutions, best practices, or emerging trends in addressing plastic waste. But the heart of the Cafe is its collaborative spirit—participants share projects, vet ideas and identify ways to take action.
The goal is simple yet ambitious: to “connect the dots” of who is doing what, where, and how, creating a global network of problem-solvers. Whether you’re spearheading a community cleanup, researching biodegradable materials, or simply curious about how to get started, the Cafe offers a platform for meaningful dialogue. In short, “They say it takes a village. For plastic solutions, it takes a world.”
