Geraldine Nicol is a ruby Paul Harris Fellow from the Rotary Club of Newlands, Cape Town, Rotary District 9350, South Africa. Using her educational qualifications, her career has focused on Educational Development in both rural and urban parts of South Africa, through her establishment of two non-racial Educational Training and Development Institutions to improve the quality of teacher training and student development from Early Childhood through to High School, finding alternative solutions to the original apartheid system of education in South Africa. She currently chairs the University of Cape Town (UCT) based Language Literacy and Library Partnership team working with government departments, UCT, and NGOs (Non-Government Organizations in Civil Society ) committed to improving the low literacy levels in the country. She has 3 decades of experience in project management, organizational development, financial management, fundraising, and community liaison., and is innovative in taking projects to scale.

Geraldine began her Rotary life as a Rotaractor while still at school and has been involved ever since. She has served in many District roles including District 9350 Governor (2015/16); District 9350 Leadership Team Youth Director (2010-2014), D9350 Community Services Director (2016-2023). She chaired the District Governors' Council of Southern Africa (COSA) (similar to RIBI); which included 4 Rotary Districts and 10 countries, focused on project partnerships and networking, and just recently successfully led COSA to form the new Rotary Governors’ Çouncil of Region 28 which encompasses Eastern and Southern Africa and includes 16 countries and 7 Rotary Districts within the African continent.

Her involvement in Environmental issues includes being a Member of the ESRAG Board for 2022-24, Member of the ESRAG Board’s Roadmap Committee for the 5-year ESRAG Strategic Plan, Chairman of District 9350 Environmental Sustainability Committee (2021-2023) Chairman of Governors Council of Southern African Environmental Committee ( 4 Rotary District including 10 countries)
